German aluminum production plummets | Digimarc launches training program | Top Trends 2024 webinar

This week in industry news, the German aluminum industry recorded production declines in almost all sub-sectors in the first quarter of 2024. We spoke to Rob van Gils, president of Aluminium Deutschland


Digimarc Corporation launched its Center of Expertise program to equip partners with tools and best practices to leverage its digital watermarking and QR code technologies.


The Coca‑Cola Company and its authorized bottler Coca‑Cola Beverages Africa, invested US$175 million in Kenyan production. 


Meanwhile, Netherlands-based BioBTX, a developer of renewable aromatics technology, secured over €80 million (US$86 million) to launch its first commercial-scale plant.


In the UK, Aeropowder, which creates materials from surplus feathers, secured a £150,000 (US$190,000) investment from the British Design Fund.

McDonald’s largest independent franchisee, Arcos Dorados Holdings, began equipping its food packaging with a 100% biodegradable barrier compound.

CSPI files FDA complaint for failing to protect consumers from opiate-contaminated poppy seed

The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is filing a complaint against the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) accusing the agency of failing to act on a 2021 regulatory petition asking the FDA to protect consumers from poppy seeds contaminated with alleged dangerous levels of opiates.
