High eggs prices likely to remain, war continues to impact sunflower lecithin

Rabobank research flagged that egg prices will remain relatively high through 2023 as avian flu, soaring feed costs and manufacturing prices are troubling producers. The government is lifting the poultry mandatory housing measures in England and Wales.


The Ukraine war continues to disrupt the global production of sunflower lecithin and brands are pivoting from the ingredient in the face of the ongoing shortage while others look for alternatives with equal functionality.

ADM and Believer Meats joined forces to create novel products made with cultivated meat, including hybrid plant and animal cell options. Bel Group has acquired an equity stake in Climax Foods, aiming to use AI and data science to create plant-based cheeses. The Good Food Institute flagged the need for specialized scientists and engineers to propel alternative protein.

Big Mountain Foods
enhanced the flavor and nutrition of its Lion’s Mane Mushroom Burger by upcycling a wine ingredient. 

Copa-Cogeca
launched a campaign to tackle widespread honey fraud in the EU, mobilizing beekeepers to call on the European Commission to enforce country-of-origin labeling.

Barry Callebaut
expanded its Ruby chocolate line with a new chip to enhance bakery products and snacks. Meanwhile, Prova highlighted its Asian expansion alongside sustainable vanilla sourcing from Madagascar.
